When someone thinks or says ‘purple lipstick’, I feel the natural reaction is disgust. In a society that lays the foundation for women as ‘subtle and obedient’, no wonder the majority opinion of a bold statement is negative. In my eyes, I see purple lipstick as a f*ck you to the society enriched with rules and regulations for how anyone should behave, not solely women. It’s time we start representing ourselves as the people we want to be instead of the people society wants us to be.

If you genuinely believe bold lip colors look terrible, it’s probably because you didn’t compliment it well enough. Here are some easy ways to pull it off:

1. Denim

One of the easiest ways to nail the purple lip is to wear something denim. Whether it’s a cute denim top or a denim skirt, it looks flawless with purple lipstick. Pair it up with some cute accessories if you want to glam it up a bit.

2. Smokey Eyes

If you’re going for a vamp look, smokey eyes will do the trick wonderfully. It automatically suits the look and makes a bold statement.

3. Light/Neutral Clothespurple lipstick

Sometimes the only way to match something dark is to pair it up with something light (Yin and Yang that shit). Contrast smartly; wear something understated as clothing to get more attention to your flawless makeup.

4. Matching Jewelry

The heading is self explanatory. Wear a necklace or earrings that have the same shade as your purple lipstick and rock both of them simultaneously.

5. Scarves

Wear a simple yet classy shirt along with a heavy scarf that compliments your purple lipstick. You can’t go wrong with this one.

I want to remind you guys that these aren’t the only ways to pull this look off. Keep mixing and matching and wearing whatever the hell you want as long as you feel comfortable in it. In fact, even if you don’t feel comfortable, try stepping out of your comfort zone; maybe you’ll enjoy the new vibes.
